Here’s the experiment of the month:-)
Someone asked if we could build a shorter scale Octave Mandolin so we started one and the dude then backed out but we went ahead and built it anyway. This is what we came up with. A Purpleheart octave with a 19 3/8"+ scale length. Pretty comfortable reach we might say so ourselves so if your fingers aren’t all that long this octave may be the ticket. Plus, it sounds pretty darn good.
